Loft Update 03-12-2012

I have been slacking on updates lately.  There’s been 3 tosses at the Spring Break 300 race which I still need to post details on.  Unfortunately my 42992 bird was lost, so now I have a fairly competitive bird left in 42991 and then 42993 likes to come in with the last of the flock. 42991 has a real shot at winning some money. That bird just finished 62nd vs. 420 in the 120 mile...

2012 Young Birds Update

It’s been a little while since I made an update.  Sorry to anyone who follows this closely.  My 2012 young birds are doing quite well.  All are looking strong and healthy.  If I only had my traps and aviaries built in the new loft, I would have them loft flying already.  My second round birds have been hatching over the last week or so.  I have 6 banded and I’ll band 4 more in...

Spring Break 300 02-21-2012

This training toss was from 45 miles.  A little bit of a curve ball for the birds as they have been flying from greater distances lately.  I’m starting to get a little disappointed in my birds performance.  I feel lucky that all three are still in the mix though!  42991 has become my best performing bird.   pos Race Name Race Date...

Spring Break 300 02-17-2012

Another longer toss for the Spring Break birds.  80 Miles from Oak City.  This toss left me checking back for results often as one of my birds didn’t come back.  Finally the very last bird to return on the next day was my 42993.  My birds as a whole performed poorly on this toss.  42992 barely made it back as a day bird. pos Race Name Race Date...

Spring Break 300 02-10-2012

They took the birds to 80 miles today.  Beautiful weather today in Utah.  It was 56 degrees when I was driving home from work today.  Probably a little warmer than that down in Beaver where they hold the race.  After that last toss I was really excited for today’s toss. My birds did very poorly today with 42993 clocking 361st,  42991 clocking in 2.5 hours later, and 42992 appears to be...
